Jumpsuit | Earrings | Crossbody | Flats (Not LeTote)

Recently I was able to participate in an Instagram campaign with Letote. Letote is a subscription service where you pay a flat fee each month, and receive a hand picked (by you, or by a stylist) “tote” with a few items of clothing, and accessories. The amount of items you receive depends on the subscription plan you choose. I was able to put together, and receive one of their totes for free. If I wanted to keep any of the items (which of course, I did), I had to pay for them myself. The campaign I participated in was just for instagram, but I chose to write this blog post because I got some questions about the service. I thought I would write a detailed review that would hopefully clear them up! These are 100% my own, honest opinions.

How It Works

Overall, I had a very good experience with Letote. Subscription boxes are all the rage right now, so I was super excited to try this one out! I created my account and took a short survey. When I was done, I was shown my “tote”, with pieces they believed were my style. There was actually only one item in here that I chose to keep, some beautiful sunburst earrings, as they were called. I was not extremely fond of their original clothing picks, but easily swapped them out for picks of my own. I chose a gorgeous black jumpsuit by Maggy London, white Calvin Klein skinny jeans, a pink Cece blouse with ruffle detail on the sleeves, and a soft pink and gold French Connection crossbody bag.

I was impressed at the selection of brands they had available to choose from. As a frequent shopper, and former retail worker, I am very loyal to brands I know, and tend to avoid brands I have not heard of. It was nice to see brands such as Maggy London included, because I know they produce very high quality clothing.

I was extremely excited to receive my tote, and it only took three days to reach me. Here are the items I received, first being my favorite, and last my least favorite:

Maggy London Jumpsuit

I fell in love with the jumpsuit right away. It’s more of a special occasion piece, so I still haven’t gotten a lot of wear out of it yet. Letote lists that it retails for $88, but I could purchase it at a $20 discount. I did a quick search, and found it on sale on Amazon for $138. This leads me to believe that this is a piece from a previous season, which is why they can sell it for a lower price. Within minutes of trying it on, I knew I would be keeping this jumpsuit.

Ava Sunburst Earrings

These earrings are beautiful, and unlike any that I currently had. I chose to purchase these as well.

French Connection Crossbody

I was skeptical about the French Connection crossbody, because it’s pretty hard to keep a purse in pristine condition. Thankfully, I found no marks, or scratches on it at all! Although I liked this bag, I do have a couple similar in color, so I couldn’t justify the purchase.

Calvin Klein Mid Rise Skinny Jeans (white)

The skinny jeans by Calvin Klein were fine, but not quite up to my standard. They fit nicely, but the denim was quite stiff, and they were just a bit see-through. I did not purchase these, and I also did not wear them while I had them.

Cece Ruffle Sleeve Blouse

I was really looking forward to this blouse, but sadly it was the biggest let down of the box. I tried it on with the skinny jeans, and looked in the mirror. There was a noticeable heart-shaped oil/grease stain on the front of the top. My heart was a little broken, because I had specifically chosen these pieces to wear together. I took a picture of the stain, and sent it over to customer service right away. They replied the next day, apologizing, and assuring me that this was not typical for them. They also offered to send another clothing item in my next box to make up for it. Because I had not purchased this top, I thought this was a fair way to handle this situation, and had I been planning on continuing my subscription, I would have enjoyed receiving an extra item.

Here is the heart shaped stain.

My Tote Summary

So to sum it up, I liked 3/5 pieces, and I purchased 2/5 pieces. It wasn’t an overwhelming success, but my gorgeous new jumpsuit makes up for the unfortunate blouse and jeans.

Subscription Options

Letote has a couple options for subscriptions. You can receive

3 clothing items, and two accessories per tote for $59 a month.

4 clothing items per tote for $69 a month.

5 clothing items, and 3 accessories per tote for $79 a month.

They also have separate options for maternity clothing.

You will be charged once a month for your subscription, but this is not a price per tote. If you ship your tote back in time, you will receive another tote, with new items! I liked this aspect of their service, because if by chance you do not like most items in your first tote, there is still time to send it back and receive new items, for no extra cost. To purchase items from your tote, you just mail back the items you don’t want (in the prepaid envelope they give you), and they will charge your card for the items you keep! Easy as pie.

Customer Service

In my experience, Letote’s customer service is easy to contact, and friendly to deal with. They can assist you in cancelling your subscription, and can also put your account on a hold for you. When I had to contact them about the stain on the blouse, they were nothing but kind.

Will I Subscribe?

At the end of the experience, I did choose to cancel my account. This was not because of anything that Letote did wrong. I do tend to shop quite frequently, and cannot rationalize spending $59 a month to rent a few pieces of clothing, when I know I will also be out purchasing other pieces. I do think this service would be great for someone who is not a big shopper, and would appreciate the convenience of it! They really do have a lot of great pieces available, ranging from active wear, to professional.

So there you have it, my opinions on Letote! If you have any questions, or want to share your own LeTote experience, please feel free to do so below!
